Erigavo's First Asphalt Road: What the 2015 Report Said

On 13 July 2015, Somaliland Sun reported that "the first ever asphalted road in Erigavo" had started. The report gave no start date of its own beyond the publication date. The wording of "has started" is Somaliland Sun's, and nothing in the evidence establishes the stage the works had reached. SCR has no independent confirmation of works.

What the report states, and what it leaves open

The same report described Erigavo as "the capital of the largest region in Somaliland", an attribution to Somaliland Sun. The extract does not name the region, so the location is recorded only as Erigavo.

The report does not state:

• Who is building the road: no contractor, implementing agency or engineer is named.
• Who is paying for it: no funder, financier, ministry or budget source is named.
• The physical scope: no road length, route, design or specification.
• The money: no cost, contract value or budget figure.
• The schedule: no timeline or target completion date beyond the 2015-07-13 report date.

There is also no statement from Somaliland authorities, the Erigavo district administration or any company in the report as recorded.
