Material prices, labour wage indices, estimating guidance and takeoff templates for the construction markets of Somaliland and Puntland, collected on a stated method and dated to the month they were gathered.
The price and wage series are not collected yet, so this page carries no figures. Somali Construction Review does not publish an index it has not measured, and no sample or placeholder number appears here in the meantime.
What the first release will carry
- Material prices — cement per bag, reinforcement per tonne, aggregates and blocks, quoted per market town: Hargeisa, Berbera, Burao, Bosaso and Garowe.
- Labour wages — daily rates for mason, steel fixer, carpenter and labourer, by town.
- Estimating guidance — how to build a rate from those inputs, and the wastage and overhead assumptions behind it.
- Takeoff templates — spreadsheets for the common Somali structural forms, with the quantities already set out.
Method, before the numbers
Every series will state where the quote came from, how many suppliers stand behind it, the date of collection and the spread between the highest and lowest quote. A single number with no method behind it is not data, and it will not be published as if it were.
