Berbera port phase 2 and economic zone

An evaluation study for British International Investment, published in December 2025, describes a planned second phase at Berbera port that would raise container capacity to 2 million TEU by extending the quay to 1,000 m and adding gantry cranes, with its timing uncertain and dependent on throughput. It records the Berbera Economic Zone 15 km from the port, and phase 1 works completed in 2021. The study's economic figures for 2024 are modelled estimates.
