The Hargeisa Water Agency reported the inauguration of the fifth of six boreholes planned for the second phase of the expansion, in Darasalam district, drilled to 230 metres with water first reached at 45 metres and a production rate of 60 cubic metres per hour.

The Hargeisa Water Agency reported that the fourth borehole of the Hargeisa Water Expansion project, inaugurated on 29 May 2025, reaches a depth of 212 metres with water identified at 22 metres below the surface.
